This was "Day 9" of our SAGA Holidays blitz. It started early with a ferry crossing from Algeciras, Spain, to Tangier, Morocco.
|
|
Algeciras was a modern and extremely busy port. As the ferry exited the port, it passed huge facilites for container ships. The machinery operated with such efficiency that cranes were loading cargo onto the forward part of a ship while in-coming cargo was still being off-loaded from the stern! |

| In a short time, we were out in the straits. The Rock of Gibraltar was silhouetted in the morning sun. It was making its own weather, generating banks of clouds over its jagged peak. We were to discover that's a typical occurrence. |

| Here's Dot, settled on the fantail of our ferry, enjoying the 17 mile crossing--which turns out to be quite a bit longer because of currents. The crossing takes about an hour or so. It is a pleasant ride. |
