Tangier (Initial Visit)

Our initial visit to Tangier amounted to nothing more than a "Drive Through." We picked up a guide for Morocco who was called "Idriss." Our group changed money at a local bank. We also linked up with "Hussein."

I'm sure our affiliation with Hussein was something that Katy worked out informally. It was a smart move! Hussein traveled with us all through Morocco. He stayed with the bus when our driver needed rest stops. He even slept in the bus in the evening. He protected it and any belongings that we left on it. He also guarded against stowaways who attempt to travel by hiding in storage bays and spaces around the engine.

Here's a picture of Hussein. On the right (when we were in Marrakesh) is an example of what happens when a tour group doesn't have a protector like Hussein. The bus behind us in the parking area is having its window fixed after an apparent attempt at pilferage.

Hussein
Oh! What a pane!
