A waterslide in the shape of a Mayan pyramid is one of the most impressive features of Atlantis' outdoor attractions. This huge structure dominates the water park area.
The pyramid actually contains several slides. The major slide (fastest and scariest) is divided into three levels. The first level is a precipitous drop in an open slide. On the left, a person is just starting that stomach-fluttering fall.
At the second level, the patron plunges from the open slide into an enclosed acrylic tube. The tube goes under water, traversing a "predator lagoon" filled with SHARKS! The picture (below left) shows a person entering the second level. The photo below on the right--taken from the pyramid itself--shows the entrance to the acrylic tube. From atop the pyramid, the entrance is like a steaming cauldron, and the tube through the lagoon looks ominously narrow.
At the third (lowest) level, the patron is expelled from the narrow tube at breath-taking speed. The ride-ending splash is like dropping a bomb in the water!
Would you believe that some folks go back to try this slide a second time? Wow!

For people who don't need the exhilaration of a free-fall plunge into the shark tank, there's a calmer alternative. You can float past the sharks on an inner tube. Here I am--pursuing that "sissy" choice. The tube goes past a viewing window where Dot could see my progress.

Inner tube riders finish at the same third level as the free-fall sliders. Just like them, I made a big splash--but not with equivalent speed or force!
