It's not a very large place. A day's excursion gives plenty of time for persons who are interested only in seeing the principal sights. The map below is from a series of tile murals that line an arcade leading to the historic gateway to China. The murals depict Macau's development as a European colony--a status that will change in 1999 when it reverts back to China.
By the way, Macau's casinos are really not very impressive as compared to casinos elsewhere in the world. I'm not saying that just because I lost 100 Hong Kong dollars at the Lisboa Casino. My loss amounted to a only 13 USD--which is better than I do at most casinos! The casinos are smallish in size, and they have some very strange blackjack rules.
