The Temple

The Temple is an internationally renowned site. It was built between 1406 and 1420, and represents one of the great achievements of architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. There is not a single nail used in its construction. The building is put together with the Chinese equivalents of tongue & groove, dovetails, mortise & tenon, tab"A" into slot "B," etc. A monumental exercise of jigsaw ingenuity!
