A Carnival-like Scale

There were refreshment stands, souvenier stalls, and some other carnival-like booths along the Bund. A young woman operated an elaborate set of scales which apparently printed out a person's weight and fortune. I paid, and stepped on the scales. While the machine was being operated, a loudspeaker publicized its work. (No privacy here!)

However, all of the speaking was in Chinese--so I've no idea what sort of slanderous description the machine was broadcasting. Whatever it said, I attracted a crowd of laughing bystanders. (I think the young lady was "speaking" for the machine.)
